National Libraries Day – Wanted! Ralfy Rabbit, Book Burglar by Emily MacKenzie

It’s National Libraries Day today so here’s a quick post about a book we found at ours this week – Wanted! Ralfy Rabbit, Book Burglar by Emily MacKenzie. My bigger boy was excited to find this book as it has a burglar in it and he is very concerned with baddies and people doing naughty things.

Ralfy is a rabbit who loves books, so strong is his book addiction that he takes to breaking in to other people’s houses to steal their books. Arthur, one of his victims, sets out on the case to find out who has been stealing his books and set him on the straight and narrow.

The illustrations are completely engaging with with them becoming part of the story and there are some great puns that really made me laugh! They went straight over the head of my 3 year old of course but a couple of my favourites in Ralfy’s list of books are “Warren Peas” and “Bunnivers Travels”.

The presence of the police and a burglar being captured pleased my bigger boy no end. We were pleased at the end as Ralfy is shown a more legitimate way to fulfil his book obsession… borrow some from the library of course!

My bigger boy has just been having a look at this book and said “I don’t want Ralfy to steal my books. If he did then I would pull him along to the library!”

Happy Libraries Day!
