Fabio The World’s Greatest Flamingo Detective: Mystery on the Ostrich Express by Laura James, illustrated by Emily Fox and published by Bloomsbury is the second book in this funny detective series from the writer who brought us Captain Pug.
Fabio the flamingo lives on the banks of Lake Laloozee and he’s the world’s greatest detective. Bright pink, skinny and very clever he is the bird to call if a mystery needs to be solved.
This story sees Fabio and his associate, Gilbert the giraffe, heading off on a well deserved and relaxing holiday. But, no sooner does their train set off when a super expensive ruby necklace is stolen. Fabio is straight on the case and his smart detective skills are telling him all is perhaps not as it seems.
Fast paced and funny this is a mystery story that is sure to entertain, we love the animal characters especially the relationship between sharp, clever Fabio and the bumbling, forgetful Gilbert. Bright pink and orange pages and brilliant illustrations make for an enticing read and is perfect for newly independent readers or to share with an adult.
